Honey bees are mother nature’s workforce, working hard to pollinate flowers that grow into important fruits and vegetables for people. Plants need pollinators to grow seeds and survive from season to season. Together we’ll learn the important differences between honey bees and wasps. We will study honey bees from inside the hive! Take a peek at hive equipment, understand honey bee biology, learn the tools of the trade, and get a sweet taste of their labor.

Integrated Pest Management

Sometimes garden pests get out of balance in our backyard, and as homeowners we make choices to control their populations. In this program we will learn more about natural enemies in our gardens, cultural control methods, judicious pesticide use, and how all these tactics come together in an integrated way to minimize risk to people and the environment.
